Question:
Lap Band Results - satisfied with results?

I'd like to hear from those folks who have had the Realize Lap Band Procedure and if they are happy with the results and satisfied that they chose the LP vs. Gastric Bypass.    — vsmith080808 (posted on June 17, 2008)

I had Lap Band surgery on April 29 and have lost 35 pounds to date. It is the best thing I've ever done for myself - - I feel GREAT! No problems with it at all. I originally considered having the gastric bypass, but could not come to grips with it. After attending a presentation on the Lap Band by one of the surgeons from the Bariatric Center I go to, I knew that was the tool I needed. I am able to eat almost all foods, have an occassional glass of wine and still lose weight - - and I don't have to worry about losing my hair, calcium deficiency, etc.

I had Lap Band 4-16-08 and I am down 30 pounds, but a lot of inches. I am wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear in over two years. I and very happy with my results and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I will probably start losing more weight when I get my second fill 6-25-08. I have more energy than I have had in years. I am exercising three days a week (water aerobics) and just very satisfied with where I am. Good Luck!!

Valerie, There is a Yahoo group called [email protected] which is an online support group for those who have had Lap Band surgery. It's very, very informative and helpful - both for those considering Lap Band surgery and those who have had it. Check it out!! Barbara

HI, I had lap band surgery done on Aug, 7, 2006. I am almost 2 years out. I have met my goal and I have no trouble maintaining at all. I am so glad I did this for myself. I was suppose to get the bypass done and was even taken into the operating room to have it done. They found polyps in my stomach and would not do the surgery. They said it would not be a safe thing to do. So they told me about the lap band. I am so glad that it happened like it did. I have a friend who had gastric done and she never met her goal before she started gaining some of her weight back. I hope this helps you out. Like I said, I love my band!

I had lap band surgery 4/19/07. Have lost 85 lbs so far. I use a protein supplement @ breakfast & take a multi-vitamin. My diabetes is in remission, my joints don't ache all the time, I can get into the garden & work for hours at a time. I have a small blog on sparkpeople.com that lists my many NSV. Donna, RN

Hey Girl, I had lap band surgery one month ago and have NO regrets!!!!!! I have lost 20 pounds and feel great :) I chose to give up sugar (sugarless chocolate tastes the SAME), diet pop and alcohol are out forever too. You will have to change the way you eat - no snacking, 3 meals a day, small bites, no beverages with meals, etc... good luck. I went to Mexico and had a great experience. Jen Wilkin

I had lapband on Oct 17th and have lost 60 pounds so far and would do it again in a heartbeat! It is a slower process (than gastric) but it is not as drastic. I liked the slow process because I could gradually get used to not having certain foods. I now have perfect restriction and after 7 months, don't even think about food like I used to every single second of the day. It is wonderful and a blessing, but remember - it is only a tool. Hope that helps :)
