Question:
5 weeks post-op and having trouble loosing weight or am I?

I have lost about 15lbs now and I have been verry compliant to taking all my vit & sup, also up to 60g of protine, I was back to work after 3 weeks and I feel great no pain or any thing abnormal to talk about, eating is a whole new learning experiance but even them I feel I am doing well with that. Is it normal to loose that amount? It seems like such a little amount am I doing some thing wrong I am walking about 30min daily, I try not to get frustrated I have lost over 75lbs since begining my journey and promissed my self never to weigh in at that old # again. If you are unhappy with your weight loss to date (and that is an entirely personal matter), and you have been compliant, you might want to consider increasing your daily protein intake to at least 80 grams and trying decrease your carb consumption to less than 25 grams per day. That would boost your weight loss. Just remember that part of the goal of our journeys is not just to arrive at a particular weight as quickly as possible but to develop healthier eating habits that we can sustain for life-- you seem to be mastering all the important life changes that will promote your long term health, so try to focus on your many successes.

I think you're doing fine, and there is probably water weight still dissipating from the surgery and IV Drip. I think the other Post from Steve Colarassi was right on target; increase proteins and decrease carbs as much as possible...

I think your doing great unfortunatly we want results fast, and take it from me that does'nt happen. But It does come off rest assure. We have the notion that this is a quick fix and in reality, we still have to work for results.... we need to remember that, or at least thats what i say to myself ever single day sometimes hundreds of times a day.

Stay on the plan. I chose to not weigh myself. I waited for doctor appointments to get the official weight with their scales. That way I didn't obsess on my weight. It's all in the head after surgery. Follow the nutrition plan and eat sugar free popsicles.

I had a RNY on Oct 27th and was haveing the same concerns as you, (I even posted just about the same question as yours a few weeks ago) I was totally freaking out when my weight loss stopped because I was doing everything the Doctors told me and the weight loss just stopped! I went back on protein drinks only in the morning (until after noon) with water or crystal light in between. Then I have a high protein afternoon snack, high protein dinner and high protein evening snack (each 3-4 hours apart). I also keep a no calorie drink with me at all times and sip constantly. The weight started comming off again. I am up to 34lbs lost as of today!

I can identify with you totally!!!! I am 16 days out and a couple of days ago I began the soft foods. I am losing at most a quarter a pound a day. I think that in addition to our bodies being pumped full of fluids that our metabolism must have slowed to a snails pace. Maybe as time goes on our bodier will adjust, but I think my body is going into "survivor" mode and is holding onto every calorie I am putting into it.....which isn't much!!! I guess we just have to hang in and hang on!!! Good luck!!!
