Question:
What is a good girdle?

Hello! I am 6yrs. post-op. I lost almost 200lbs. and have been successful in keeping it off. The problem is the excess skin. I am starting to have back and neck problems and bad varicose veins due to it, and my cheap girdles that I have been using just doesn't seem to help anymore. I do not have insurance, so surgery is out of the question. I am wanting to find a very good, very firm girdle that covers from below my bust to above my knees. I am willing to pay some extra bucks for something that works well. Thanks!    — Jane1234 (posted on August 2, 2009)

First of all, congrats! I have heard here on the forum that Spanx is an excellent undergarment to "hold everything" in. I did buy one, but I am still losing, and it was too big to help. Plus, I had problems with sweat in the creases between the folds and then skin irritations and yeast developing. I have lost about 140 lbs so far with another 90 or so to go, so I have been wearing the spandex bike shorts that go below the knee (the ones without any padding in the seat. But they only go to the waist, I believe. Check out this site: http://www.abigattitude.com/store/home.php?cat=20. Let me know if you find anything different that works!

Body majic is a wonderful girdle and it fits according to your measurments. My mother sells them and i think I have seen then for sale at some small shops in the mall.

Let me tell you what works for me! Flexies!! just Google the name and you can find a vender online. I think I got mine thru Maidenform. These panty girldles are wonderful, launder great, and really do a good job of hiding the baggy skin. They come in a huge variety of sizes and white, beige, or black. You won't regret the money you spend on these. Try one and find out for yourself! Jeepers!! I sound lke a commercial! I really love Flexies.

I forgot to say that the problem with getting irritated in the skin folds or getting funky yeast odors, I pull my skin up, so there is no folds to accumulate moisture. Another thing I do I use an antibacterial wipe (they come in the little pink packs at checkouts) to whipe creases when I go to the bathroom away from home. Very Very effective.
