Question:
I am 2 weeks 2 days Post-OP RNY and I and hunger all the time.

I have been going through the stages of the diet. I can tolerate everything. Right now I'm adding soilds to my menu. I feel like I am eating Chinese Food....I get full and I stop eating then about an hour later I am hungry again. I lost 22lbs. But haven't lost since March 11th. Any suggestions    — pete (posted on March 16, 2006)

ok , hello the weight is just not going to fall off of you . that what i thought too , but you have to do alot of walking and excerise to help that process along . you basicly lost about 3-4 pounds a week if you eat right and excersie right . and the being hungery an 1 hr to 3 hrs later get use to it depending on what you ate before . because i could eat some real light for breakfast and then 2 hrs later i am starving eat half a sandwich or trail mix . but then guess what no more then 3 hrs later i am hurngery again . it is because your tummy can hold on a small amount and once that has gone through it you are hungery again that why they tell us we will probally be eating like 5-6 times a day at least . i went from 326/ 205/ 180/???? and i am 2 yrs out at the 29 of march . the surgery really does work . good luck and welcome to the losing side .... god bless .

But what are you eating and are you drinking with it? Are you using protein drinks and keeping your meals primarily protein? I know I was eating my teensy meals appx every 2 hrs for a long time. And the loss starts to be in clumps rather than daily or weekly as time goes on. Don't panic yet. At the end, I was holding steady for 3 weeks, then dropping 2-3 lbs, then holding again.

Are you hungry an hour later, or do you want to eat an hour later? Big difference. I didn't feel actual hunger for a month or more after surgery, but I sure wanted to eat everything in the house. For me, I needed to learn the difference between hungry and not full. Just because I wasn't full, didn't mean I was hungry. As for not losing since March 11, the first plateau hits around 3 weeks, you may have hit it a bit early. Be patient, it will kick back in full force. I went almost two weeks w/o losing sometime in the first couple of months, skipped a day of weighing and then magically lost 20lbs. So your body is in weirdville right now...let it do it's thing.

How can you be hungry? Are you sure your hunger isn't from your head and not your tummy????? I was NEVER physically hungry after my surgery and over a year and a half out I STILL don't get physically hungry, it's all in my brain!!!

I weighed 291 March 25th 2005 and Today is my one Yr Ann. I have lost 160 lbs. I weigh 131 ....I have not done any exersize at all... But have had a rough year also... But Not everyone is the same... I didnt get the spurt of energy till just a few months ago and its been to cold for walking and I cant afford a GYM...I just started line dancing about 8 weeks ago... first of anything even close to exersize ... Not that you shouldnt exersize... but its NOT TRUE that some want lose without it... I did....
