Sorry I can't give you any help but I just wanted to tell you that my husband's nose runs every time he eats -- whether it's what he likes or doesn't like. He hasn't had WLS but is diabetic. Are you? It might have something to do with that.

I have the same problem. I'm almost 8 months post RNY, and when I have to "visit the sink" to get rid of something that won't go down, my nose runs a lot. I, too, have been wondering. I'm not a diabetic.

It has to do with the vagus nerve. CAlled "gastric rhinitis", meaning basically, irritated nose cuzza the stomach. Many of us get that when we are full, or nearing full. Like it hits the "nose" swtich at some point. Annoying, huh?

Hi im am a diabetic & 13 months post op & i have had this happen from the start. it happens when i get full. it doesnt matter if it food or liquid..... my nose begins to run & i get really stuffy like i have the worst cold or i am having an alergic reaction to something. Its like this is my bodys way of telling me i am not doing the best thing for me....so i just stop what ever i am eating & it does pass , at first i ignorred it & kept eating or drinking & it took a long time to pass, but know i stop instantly,& it goes away in about 15-30 minutes.... best of luck....Barbara

I have heard of this before, but you know what, I have never had that problem and I do eat to over full sometimes. Strange? You think my nerve there is missing, maybe why I haven't done so well with the gastric bypass?
