Question:
Is there any support groups in Tulsa, OK for post-op patients?

I had my gastric bypass out of town and I really need a support group here in Tulsa. I called some here and they won't have anything to do with me because I didn't have my surgery with them. All I want to do is talk to other people that understand. The place I had my surgery is 100 miles away and it is very hard to make their meetings. Any suggestions on who wouldn't mind me attending their group even though Im not their patient?    — okbuffy (posted on February 15, 2009)

Yes, there are groups in Tulsa! I live in OKC and you are welcome to our support group any time but I know that isn't convenient. But I'm going to post this on the Oklahoma forum and you'll get lots of responses with details of where the meetings are! In the meantime, please, please come over to the Oklahoma forum! We're a great bunch of supportive people!

Guests are always welcome at Dr Gorospe's meeting in Owasso. It is the second Monday of each month.

Lady friend, I'm Tulsa based...ummm kinda-ish. I did my surgery with Weight Wise out of Edmond, yet there's a catch...I really live in the Virgin Islands. My support groups have only been online. I know it's kinds weird, but the Oklahoma Forum of people really are terrific at supporting you from questions that you might have all the way to answering questions that you might be embarassed to ask your doc. It's a nice thing to think about....support via online access.....still, there are a lot of people who do meet up form OKC and from Tulsa monthly just from the forum, so give it a try....

hello, I didn't have surgery here either. I had it with Dr. Gornichec in OKC but when I go to support group meetings I go to Dr. Gorospe's at Bailey's. He is Ok with it too. He won't see me as a dr. but He is ok with you going to the support group meetings. PM me if you have any questions. I'm about 9 weeks out from RNY.

I go to Dr. Gorospe's meetings in Owasso at Bailey Medical Center. I didn't have surgery with him and no one cares where you had surgery as long as you are getting support. Hope this helps Dot

HEllo there, you should pop on over to the Oklahoma State forum and there are several of us in the Tulsa area. We would be happy to have you over there and there is always a lot of support to offer.
