Question:
What can I do to kick start weight loss?

No weightloss this past month! Only 4mths. out and holding steady. Down 58lbs. On Feb. 26th it will be 4 mths. since I had my surgery. I am down 58lbs. I have gone up and down 5lbs. over this past month...and have not lost below that...in this month. Why is my body holding steady already? What can I do to "kick it in the butt"? I eat...on average betw. 8-900 cal. a day. How can someone maintain on this calorie consumption? Does anyone have any advice, I will be most greatful. Oh, yea...I am eating 1 protein bar or drink 1 protein drink a day...Usually the bar is Pure Protein, and the drink is Designer Whey Protein blast! Thanks for the much needed advice.    — [Anonymous] (posted on February 20, 2002)

I use Desighner whey too, but not with the "blast" on the end of it.Out of curiosity, whats the sugar content? There may be a big diff.

I agree with Barb. The other thing I do is cut ALL carbs, and sugar, when I am jump starting. I eat only pure protein, nothing else, no veggies, fruit, juice...nada! :) I usually lose 4-5 pounds a week and will be 3 months post op next week. I am down 66 pounds. I find I lose for about 2 weeks and then I plateau again for 4-5 days. Get used to the plateaus my friend!

I would suggest upping your calorie intake. I was having the same problem. I called my nutritionist and told her I was getting in all my protein and water, and that I averaged around 700-800 calories. she said that at three months I should be eating AT LEAST 1000 calories, preferrably 1200. So I did and I lost 14 pounds in two days! And it hasn't stopped again either! The reason you maintain is because your body thinks it's starving and hangs onto every calorie. Hope this helps.

I "jump start" weight loss by cuttying wayyyyyy back on carbs and drowning myself in water. This confirmed couch potato does to sweat ...but if I did...I work out more too (lol). If I limit my carbs to 40 grams a day and dring 128oz. of fluids a day, I can lose 5-6 pounds in a week. I can only do this for two weeks...but it gets me going.....

The 3 things that work for me are increasing my water, protein and calorie intake. When I don't get enough of any of the 3 my weight will stay the same. I hope this helps.
