Question:
Has anyone undergone WL surgery with Dr. Roe of Baltimore?

I have a consultation appointment with Dr. Roe on July 15th and any suggestions, comments, etc. would be most helpful. How is he as a doctor, surgereon, staff, what should I expect, waiting time & what each appointment entails? Thank you - Bonnie    — Bonnie C. (posted on June 19, 2002)

Here is some helpful information located on the "find a doc" page. Dr. Roe's page is filled with insurance information and patient comments with links to their profiles and e-mail addresses. Maybe you could e-mail them your specific questions? Here it is http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/mdcomments.phtml?N=995188580 Hope this helps. Shelley

Hi Bonnie: Dr. Roe did my WLS on December 6, 2001. I've lost 121 lbs since then. You've made a good decision..Dr. Roe is wonderful. My incision is only about 4 or 5 inches, so my healing time was really short. When you go for your appointment, he'll show you a Powerpoint show about the surgery which will answer most of your questions. I brought a big list with me and only needed to ask one or two. He's very straight forward and honest and has an excellent bedside manner. Dawn and Joan also work in his office and have been wonderful. I find Dr. Roe to be very responsive to any questions or problems I have. If the office is closed, he has a service and he always calls you right back. I've been very happy about my decision. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me [email protected]

Dr. Roe is excellent!!!He is very thorough. The power point presentation really helped me decide to have the surgery(Which was 3/19/02-60 lbs gone forever) His assistants are also great. Each appointment after surgery consists of weigh in,blood pressure and b-12 shot. I actually like going!!

At this time Dr.Roe is not peforming bariatric surgery. He will accept new patients and charge them 500.00 and promise that he will have operateing priveledges within 2 weeks. I went too him in April of 2004 and it is now september and he still doesnt have rights yet. I had to change doctors for the surgery. Please wait untill he is actually performimg the surgeries before you give him the 500 dollars. Allso, he does prefer to make a 3 inch incision and other doctors can do it completely laproscopically. I hope this helps some people avoid the frustration of "waiting" for that surgery day that never seems to come.
