Question:
HI, HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT PAINS IN LEFT SIDE.

HELLO, I HAVE BEEN OUT FOR 2 DAYS. I WAS FEELING AWESOME UNTIL TODAY. I HAD A LOT OF PAIN ON MY LEFT SIDE, NOT FROM THE INCISION, BUT INSIDE. IT FELT AS IF I COULDN'T STAND FOR VERY LONG, LIKE IF I PULLED OUT MY BACK. I AM WONDERING IF THIS WAS CAUSED FROM GETTING UP AND DOWN FROM THE COUCH AND CHAIR. I CAN'T EAT MUCH EITHER. I EAT LIKE 1/2 PROTIEN SHAKE AND 1/2 LOWFAT STRING CHEESE AND I AM FULL, I THINK. THE GAS IS HORRIBLE. I CAN'T TELL IF I AM FULL OR JUST BLOATED. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE FOR ME PLEASE WRITE, THANKS..LAUREN    — Lauren G. (posted on July 19, 2002)

I had more pain in my back a few days after surgery than I did from my incision. All I could think was that I was so busy trying to protect my stomach muscles when getting up and down, that I overused my back muscles. I called my doctor and asked for some muscle relaxers and they did the trick. I took them for about a week and then was feeling well enough that I didnt need them anymore. Good luck to you.

I had the exact same thing. I could only stand for a few minutes and had to sit down again. I called my doctor and she said it was muscle inflammation. She advised me to take ibuprofen for a few days, even though we normally can not take ibuprofen, it is what will clear up the inflammation and is safe to take for just a few days. And also put a heating pad on 3-4 times a day. It worked wonders! After about 3 days I was fine.
