My insurance company had told my doctor that I was going to be denied unless I furnished proof of physician supervised weight loss attempts in the past two years. (I have been overweight most of my life, too.) I had only one short supervised attempt in the last two years which was not considered enough. However, I sumitted a list of every diet I had been on in the past six years. This included supervised and non-supervised - everything from medications to nutrisystem to slim-fast and everything else in between. I specifically explained to the insurance company that I had been on many medications over the last decade and none of them worked, and I had no intention of being forced to take the non-working medication again just for the sake of having a supervised weight loss attempt. They accepted that, and I was approved. I also submitted copies of prescriptions, medical records, etc., showing that I had been obese for many years. It's a pain in the rear to gather all of the information, but it is worth it. Good luck, don't give up!

WHAT INSURANCE DO YOU HAVE? I HAVE AETNA PPO OPEN CHOICE, THEY HAVE HAD MY INFO FOR 2 WEEKS AND ARE ASKING FOR A DR. SUPERVISED DIET! WHICH I DONT HAVE CAUSE I HAD NOT BEEN TO A DR. IN YEARS! IF I GET A DENIAL I AM HIRING OBESITY LAWYER WALTER LINDSTROM, A FRIEND SHO DIDNT HAVE A DR.'S DIET WON WHEN SHE HIRED HIM FOR $450.00 THAT WOULD BE WORTH IT! GOOD LUCK! CYNDI
