Question:
Pleze help me on the Co-morbities for Triwest (Tricare Prime) insurance

Please help I am starting over again. I was initally denied Gastric Bypass because I did not have any comorbities that Triwest (Tricare Prime outlined).(I was denied on the first appeal).Its been since April so I am starting over again, and I have my first appointment on 10 Jan. I want to make sure this time I am approved, any advice? Should I take pictures I need any advice. I can not find the comorbities that they outlined.    — Tina B. (posted on January 2, 2003)

I have tricare prime, and I just went to my PCM and he is all for me having WLS. He will be submitting the letter to tricare. I am having him list all my comorbities and letters from other specialist. keep in mind that this surgery has to be medically neccessary. Have your PCM list all medical reasons and how long you have had them. Good luck, when you get approved please post, so I can see how is went.

Tina, what I did was create a Family History. I listed the comorbidites that the insurance company wanted at the top of the page and then I started putting down family members who had or had died with these illnessess. I gave a brief history for each one. Everyone said that's what did it for me. I used the Microsoft Works Lotus program and it was several pages. I can find out more from the ladies in the Tricare office here but of course your BMI has to be over 40, I had high blood pressure, and back, and heel spur pain. If you email me I will get you in touch with some of the ladies that can give you the specific list.
