Question:
ALMOST 6 WEEKS AND ONLY 9 POUNDS!!

I'm almost 6 weeks out and I've only lost 9 pounds. I know everyone loses differently and I'm just probably a slow loser, but even the slow losers have lost more than this. I'm so sick about this I could cry. I eat mostly all protein, chicken, tuna salad, salmon, cheese, I usually have 2 cups of skim milk mixed with equal and instant decaf coffee for breakfast. I try to get in at least 6 cups of water a day, but I'm shooting for 8. I did just start walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes. Please if you were or are a SLOW LOSER LIKE ME and it eventually worked for you please write.    — Kelly* P. (posted on February 28, 2003)

Are you measuring inches? Even for a lightweight, 9lbs in 6 weeks isn't very much. But, you might be dropping inches. I'd go back and ask the doctor what he thinks. I read your profile and it doesn't seem like you are able to eat very much, so that's good. Doesn't sound like a SLD, but you never know. I'd ask the doctor. I bet all of the sudden you drop 10 pounds in a weekend. But, I'd definitely go ask the doctor, because something just doesn't seem right. Even if you do the math, it doesn't seem right. If you go to www.fitday.com you can track your caloric intake, and it gives you an idea of how much your burning too. If you take in more than you burn, you'll lose slower, or not at all. But, with limited intake, you should lose just by the calories you burn by daily living and moderate exercise. So... I wish I could be more helpful. My best advice is call the doc, ASAP. Hang in there...

Hi. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. You don't mention if you use birth control and, if so, what type you use. I've read quite a few postings that indicate that hormonal forms of birth control really can affect weight loss. Especially difficult are the forms that send hormones out long term, without a let-up. I'm on the pill (ortho tri-cyclene), and while I can lose, I lose very slowly the weeks I'm on it, and then lose more on the week that I am not taking the hormones.<br> I hope that this has been of some help. Regardless, though, I wish you the best of luck. Beth
