Question:
Can you tell me where you ended up if you also started at 5'4 320 lbs?

Hi everyone... I see this ? alot but never is anyone close to my stats. Anyone out there start where I am and get down to 135 with ease? I am 5'4" and 320. Waiting for preop testings to be scheduled...anxiously awaiting I should say.    — lillbitofsin (posted on August 1, 2003)

When I went in for surgery on 10/22/02 I was 318 lbs and I am 5'4. It took me 8 months to get down to 210, which is where I am now. Unfortunately I have to put the weight loss off for awhile because I am pregnant. I think a person's goal weight should be based on their body type. In fact my doctor's office has a weight chart not only based on height, but body frames such as small, medium, or large. I know a girl who was over 300 lbs and is now 118lbs. Let me tell you I will never see 118 lbs. My body is not made that way. Even before I became MO, I had very large breasts, and was very curvy. My goal weight is to be 150lbs. For my body frame that is a very attainable weight. I never wanted to be "skinny", just healthy. Besides I couldn't imagine my DDD breasts on a 118lb body. : ) Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi Robin- I am 5'2" and currently weigh 325 lbs. I agree with the first poster, everything depends on your body type and frame. There really are people who are "big boned" etc. Was there a time when you weighed 135 and it looked good on you? My high school weight varied from 135-145. The 135 looked good on me, and I was also voloptuous like the first poster. But unfortunately over time, the 10 pound yo-yo boundary didn't last. Good Luck :o) Mea

Hi! I started out at 5'5 and 314 lbs. I am now 16 months out and have lost 175lbs, putting me at 139 lbs right now. I am wearing 4's and 6's. I agree with the other posters, everyone loses at different rates. Our unique body types and bone structure will insure that no two people will lose exactly alike. But, from my own experience, I made it to goal with ease and pretty quickly. I did go through hair loss and fatigue from time to time - it wasn't a total peice of cake, so to speak. But, it is entirely do-able to get to the place your body will be it's healthiest....whether that's 120lbs or 180lbs! Best of luck to you!

Hey - I am 5'3" and started at 282 when I had surgery on 9/12/02. I am now down to 123 and in a size 4. I did have a few minor complications, but everything seems to be under control now. Good luck to you on your journey!!!!

I am 5'4" and beginning weight was 314 (that's what it was the day I got home from the hospital). I will be 13 months post-op in 4 days and I'm down 132 pounds. Current weight is 182 and I'm on a 3 week plateau right now. My personal goal is 140 which I may or may not make, but not for lack of trying. I'm wearing some 12s, mostly 14s and medium tops. Very happy where I am but hoping to lose a bit more.

Robin, I am 5'5 and started out at 305. Close but not the same. I have kept a very detailed profile if you care. My dtr basically says that surgery will get you so far and the rest is up to you. He feels that surgery will get me to 175 (I am at 187) and if I want to get to 150, we will see, he and many other dtrs maintaqin that only like 10% or so actually get to "goal", when I say goal, its the GOAL of the medical community. For someone 5'5 its 138, I will never get to 138. I have a friend on this site (Paula M) who got from 319 to 157 in 10 mos, I also have another friend who is 5'1 and was 314, she is at 151 16 mos later, and a size 6, its all depends on your body, how much your dtr bypasses and how hard you work. There is no rhyme or reason to any of this. Good Luck to you. Heather Open RNY 8-15-02 305/187/150

I had an Open RNY on May 8, 2001. I was up to 319, and got down to 158.75. I've been bouncing from 162- 169 but most of the time 162-164. Goal was 129/130 and a size 30 jeans. I weighed 123 in high school with size 28 jeans. I now wear 34 jeans. Sigh... seems I'm destined to stay in the overweight BMI range. :(

I am 5'2. I weighed 302 lbs in October 01 when I had my surgery. Twenty-one months later I now weigh 138 lbs, wear a size 10 petite or 12 petite. I have lost 164 lbs. I would like to lose about 10 more lbs.
