Question:
PB blended into protein drink?

I'm 2 weeks post-op and would like to blend PB into my chocolate protein supplement for a change of pace. Does anyone have any experence with that? What about a banana?    — Amy K. (posted on October 4, 2003)

I tried putting peanut butter in with my chocolate instant breakfast shake(sugar free) and I was 2-3 weeks post-op nad it made me dump. After drinking about half of it I got bad stomach cramps, the sweats, and then came the diarrhea for a few hours. So just be careful! Don't want you to feel the way I did. My surgeon said it was to rich for me he thought. Good Luck!!

When I did banana in the beginning it made me dump. But now I can do it with no problem. You will just have to try and see what works for you. Jenn

I also bought and used the Smucker's naturals peanut butter and also banana as well and it was great added into the shake. I have also added sugar free cocoa mix (swiss miss w/ splenda) to the vanilla shake with pb and it is good. With the banana the only time I dumped was when I bought the "baby" bananas because they have a higher sugar content than the full size.

I blend a banana and tbsp PB with my chocolate NSA instant breakfast. When my I have too many banana and don't want them to get too ripe I freeze them...this makes the shakes even better.

PB is way popular in protein drinks. I did it early one, but really, I like PB to be PB and my shake to be my shake. Don't mix 'em up. lol. But some find it heavenly. PB is not a bad thing at all. We need some fats/oils and one of the EFA's is in peanuts. On the banana..... that's a whoping lot of sugar & a huge volume for a newbie. Try this: slice the banana, put the slices in the freezer on a cookie sheet, then dump 'em into a ziplok baggie. Use 3-4 slices at a time. It'll give you both flavor & texture without that load of sugar.
