Question:
How big is the tube?

Sorry about that. Is the tube able to be hidden under your clothes or does it stick out for everyone to see? I have to return to school within a week so that I don't lose points. (it is just a 1 hour class) and I wan't to make sure I can hide it and not gross people out!    — jennifer S. (posted on June 8, 2004)

I am just about 3 weeks post op----I had my drain out while I was in the hospital. I had surgery on a Thursday and left on a Saturday--that is when they took it out. It didn't hurt when it came out ---it felt like a suction cup on my insides. Hopefully your doc will remove it before you leave the hospital. However, if not, you can hide it under you breast if you are well supplied in that region. But loose clothes will help too...you may still see the bulb a bit that it drains into ...just depends on where you place it. Good luck with your surgery!!

Hi there! I am one week post-op and I will have my tube in for another three weeks. I'll admit, it's uncomfortable and you have to be careful how you place it. You can tie it down with medical tape, but otherwise it's manageable. Just be sure to wear loose clothing and keep it clean as well. Good luck!!!!

Hello! I actually just had two drain tubes in my stomach and last weekend when I attended my first class of the summer. Nobody knew I had them...I had them hidden pretty well. I wore jeans and sort of tucked the tubes with the bulbs inside the waistline. No problem at all! Sure, they are annoying, but they are definitely manageable, so there's no need to worry about it. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions :) Have a nice day! (-211 lbs)

Mine was about a half inch wide and about a foot long. It was easily taped to my abdomen and well hidden. Funny story.....One day I didn't tape it and let it just hang there. (which can be uncomfortable) Anyhow, it stuck out below my shirt about an inch or two. My 2 year old son saw it, grabbed it, yanked real hard, and said "Mom, what's this?" Oh that was painful!!!!
