Question:
I had PS on May 4th and my stomach muscles don't feel like they are tight
like I see people posting my stomach looks pretty flat I think I still have some swelling but my stomach muscles never hurt and all these posts on how tight your muscles will feel has me wondering if he really did tighten them — kathy B. (posted on July 19, 2004)

Did you 'order' that? Tighten of the muscles cost EXTRA. Your insurance
may have approved a abdominoplasy but that does not include muscle
tightening.. Did you discuss this with your PS? that he would do the
tighening as well? IF NOT, could be you didnt have it done.

Yes The doctor said he was going to tighten the muscles and I was charged
for a complete abnoplasty I was self pay as I have Kaiser and they don't
cover plastics except in rare cases

I also had muscle tightening with my LBL, but never really felt any pain
from tight muscles. I assumed I would be bent over etc. I did wonder for
a while if he did tighten them but the surgery report indicates he did. I
finally concluded that since I had never had any children my muscles never
really got that stretched out, that the tightening was super noticeable.
Even though I had tons of excess skin (19 lbs removed) that was all on the
outside of the abdominal wall. So yes it is possible to have had them
tightened and not notice it. All depends on how they were before PS. I
have a very flat belly so there is no question things are how they should
be. I'm guessing you are still experiencing swelling. He may not have
pulled the skin as tight as some PS's also. So there are a number of
things that could factor in. The skin may also have loosened some too. I
am experiencing that from my 2nd procedure which removed the upper panni,
above the waist. He had everything pulled nice and tight but because of
the less than top quality of my skin, due to being overstretched most of my
life, the skin has relaxed some and has the tinyest roll. I'm not thrilled
but then again the doc can only work with the stretchmarked skin I gave him
to use. I suspect he will revise it with the next procedure I have done.
If not then it's not the end of the world. Most people would kill to have
a stomach that looks as flat as mine.

I also had muscle tightening, but didn't feel that bent over, tight muscle
feeling. I know she did the work though, as my stomach is flat, and my
muscles feel tight at 1.5 years out.
