Question:
What are the symptoms of a leak?

My friend had DS surgery on Wednesday. On Thursday, she had a fever. By Friday, she was moving her bowels uncontrollably and there was a lot of blood, (Thus far they have given her 7 pints of blood). Saturday night she had to go for another surgery to repair the connection between the stomach and the intestine. Are these the typical symptoms of a leak? Couldn't the doctor have figured this out before she lost so much blood? SHe would appreciate hearing of your experiences. Ill pass them on to her as she is in SICU.
