How do I get my insurance to pay for a tummy tuck? I need to have a hernia repair in June and would like to have a tummy tuck at the same time. I have had back problems which I have been to the Dr. for. Would this help with the insurance to pay for it?    — Cindy C. (posted on April 26, 2001)

Make sure your plastic surgeon's office has a lot of experience in getting insurances to pay for cosmetic surgeries. I was approved for a panniculectomy in just a few weeks. If you actually want the full blown tummy tuck you may have to pay for part of it yourself. My tummy looks great with just the extra skin gone and no actual work done to the underlying muscles. If you do not want children (or anymore children) I would go ahead and have the muscles tightened while the other work is done.
