Question:
Please tell me this gets better!!

Hi everyone! I'm about 5.5 post op from my open RNY and down 105 fabulous pounds!! Everytime I think about that...I am truely happy. My question is PLEASE tell me that these hormones cool down!!! My poor fiance is ready to strangle me! I'm very happy one minute and then I'm ready to snap off his head the next. And of course, after I go through my little tantrum, I feel very remorseful and can't understand why I can't control what I feel. I understand that estrogen is stored in fat..and as we lose the fat we gain the estrogen...but when does it stop???? LOL. I don't think he can take much more of this and I don't like doing it to him...it's just I don't really realize I'm doing it until afterwards. So! When did your hormones finally cool off? Thank you for your help!! (my fiance thanks you too! lol)    — Christie N. (posted on February 9, 2003)

I'd have some lab work done if I were you. Fluctuating hormones are one thing but ongoing RAGING hormones could be an indicator of something else. We'll say a prayer for your fiance - I'm sure he's more than willing to hang in there with you until you figure it out! Best wishes!

My obgyn gave me progesterone for a few days and everything got back to normal quickly. I was 4 or 5 months post op when we did this.

I saw my dr. last Friday for my 4 week check up and complained that surgery had kicked my hormones into high gear. I have an appt with my PCP on the 26th but would have gone to OBGYN if I could have gotten an appt with her before the last week of April. (Grrr). Anyway, my dr said that it may be coincidental or surgery just threw my system for a loop (I am perimenopausal so it was in a bit of a loop already). Call your dr (PCP or OBGYN) and have a hormone panel done.
