Question:
Im 6 mos out on 7/9/03 and have only lost 67 lbs also hair still falling out

I have only lost 1 lb in the past month. and 67 lbs in 6 mos. Im feeling frustrated. I watch what I eat fats, carbs and all. I exercise swim daily and drink water. I was 257 day of surgery now 190 Im happy about it but I'm 50 lbs from my goal and am afraid I won't lose it. How much cup wise do you eat at 6 mos. I know I should be at 1,000 to 1,200 calories it seems like a lot. also how long till the hair quits falling out. its been over 2 mos. and not slowing down at all. its thin and Im afraid It won't stop. Im using nioxin no difference.    — Joan W. (posted on July 4, 2003)

I also had my hair fall out from month 3-month 7 it finally just started to stop I now have little baby hair growing in.It is devistating because of the amount that comes out after you shower. I used to call it my daily chia-pet. It will stop. I also was a light weight 262 it sounds like your window has closed this is when we have to work hard on our weight loss. It's when our body catches up with the metabolism. I have been at the same weight for 2 months I am 9months out of surgery. I have decided to go back to the basics from after surgery. Hope this helps

I'll be six months out on 7/7 and have lost 65 lbs so far and my hair comes out by the handful. I was on a plateau for almost a month and cut my carbs and boosted my exercise and now things are moving again (I lost 5 lbs this week). HOWEVER, I would suggest to ANY slow losers or anyone that has just had surgery to measure themselves on a regular basis. I might have only lost 65 lbs but I have lost 9 inches off my belly!!! That is A LOT. My belly (pooch) was the biggest part of me on surgery day. I've lost almost 9 inches everywhere else, clothing size 18 to a baggy 14 (almost in a 12), a bra size, a shoe size and a ring size. So that 65 lbs is a bit misleading without the measurements. If you haven't measured yourself by now, DO IT and then measure yourself once a month.

I am 6 months out, and I am losing hair more now than ever. I have super thin hair as it is, so it is really frustrating me, but oh well. I am can eat about 5 to 6 oz at a meal, plus snacks. I have lost about 95 pounds so far, but I did start out at 405 pounds. I was on a plataeu for about a month where I didn't lose any, and it is just now starting again. I'm sure you are just plateauing right now, and it will pick up again. Maybe you can change up your exersize plan.

ONLY 67 pounds???? I started at 260 and lost quickly also...my hair loss slowed when my weight loss slowed! I considered it a trade-off! Now that I'm "only" losing 2-5 lbs a month, my hair is no longer falling out. Now I've also been a "shedder" and I still shed hair, but it looks like the amount I shed before surgery. Congratulations on your loss!

I have read many of these Bio's, the one product that seems to reall stick out is a supplement shake called Real-Meals use it everyday , have heard that it is high in protein, biotin, calcium, and b-12. I have read in several places that biotin prevents the hair loss. People that have used this and swear by it say they never had the hair loss problem and have had really good results, you might want to at least give it a shot. hope this helps, Best wishes on your future losses. loretta

Joan, your profile does not give any indication of what you eat in a day (too many carbs?), how much water(just your question statement that you drink water), how many times a day you eat, total calories etc. It is not unusual on our journey to hit a plateau of a month or more, so the 1 pound in a month is not abnormal. You have to eat and eat frequently to keep the body fueled and burning fat, so I would recommend eating small amounts, just a few ounces at least 6 times a day and get those calories up to a consistent 1000 calories a day. Water should also be more than 64 ounces a day. Also, to break a plateau, try varying calorie amounts, up an extra few hundred for a few days, then take away a few hundred for a few days-sometimes a little change like that gets the scale moving again.
