Randy, I wear a medic alert bracelet from www.laurenshope as well. It is beautiful and mine sez "RNY gastric bypass, No NG tube, no nsaids, no aspirin, asthmatic". You choose what you want on the bracelet. I have read both opinions on whether we need it or not, but I figured better to be safe than sorry. Don't want Jr. to be punctured by mistake! I wear one....got it from a little shop in the Daytona Beach mall called Things Remembered. It is small but big enough for my name on the front, and on the back it says "No Blind NG tube." I couldn't ever get a really clear opinion as to whether we needed one or not so I asked my son who is a paramedic and he said "better safe than sorry" so I bought one. It cost about $70 with the engraving included.

I got mine through Lauren's Hope www.laurenshope.com as well. This is actually my second as I really like the plate that they use better than my first. The bracelets can changed easily so you can change your bracelet depending on your likes/wants. Mine says: No NG tube w/o scope; No NSAIDS; NO codeine; IVC filter. I don't leave home without it!

Randy, I have a medical alert necklace already. My surgeon told me after I have the surgery to add that I have had Gastric Bypass. IF you ever have a medical emergency, they should be aware that you've had this surgery. If you go directly to MedicAlert.com, this is the world-wide medic alert, you can order your necklace or bracelet for under $20. Pay by credit card on-line. You should receive your bracelet or necklace within a couple of days.
