Question:
What are the accepted daily nutritional requirements?

I would like to know if anyone can help me. I am 6 years post-op and have had a problem with regaining weight. I never had any pre- or aftercare education from my surgeon nor did he have access to a nutritionist. What are accepted guidelines for nutritional requirements? For example, daily calories, daily carb, fat, protein grams. I had a proximal RNY with approx. 60 cm. bypassed. Thank you    — Eileen H. (posted on February 1, 2005)

Hi Eileen! My follow up minimums are 64 ounces fluids, 74 grams protein daily. But my nutritionist tells me that they figure out how many grams of protein you require by your height so obviously that will fluctuate person to person. But she also said that I could go over that amount too.I am 5'5". Be sure you are taking your multi vitamins, B-12 sublinqual and calcium citrate too. Best wishes!
