Question:
Why can't I get past the 200lb mark???

I had lap rny 11/12/99 at a starting weight of 315. For the last month or more I have gone from 200 to 210 over and over and over. I cannot seem to break the 200 lb mark. I don't eat anymore than before, I drink 2 to 3 liters of water everyday, no soft drinks, milk or juices. I get up every morning at 5:00 and do 45 minutes on the treadmill and do a body toning or step class four nights a week after work. (started this about 2 mos ago) It seems as soon as I quit drinking cokes and started to exercise more than I ever have in my entire life, I can't lose weight. I just had my 6 mo blood work done and everything was normal. I just don't understand why I can't lose anymore. I am 5'9" and need to lose at least 60 lbs more, mostly in my butt, legs and hips, and I thought the exercise and water drinking would help. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. This is REALLY geting me down and depressed.    — Rhonda D. (posted on July 26, 2000)

Hi Rhonda.... Have you been measuring your body fat? The Tanita scales are great for this... Since the problem began when you started exercising more, it's quite possible you are losing body fat and building muscle. I'm right with you... I'm at 209 and need to lose about 60 more.. We'll get there... keep up the great work! Try not to get discouraged..
