Question:
Do you drink TEA?

I am today 4 weeks post-op and feeling great. I did have some hard times behind me but that was to be expected. Well, I have gone to my first post-op meeting and met alot of wonderful people. We all shared alot of experiences and one lady there told me how she eats and drinks at the same time. I asked her if she ever gets sick or throws up and she says, not at all. She told me that she drinks TEA with her meals and it helps to settle her stomach and she has no problem with it. Well I tried it and belive it or not everything I ate stayed down and didnt have any pains at all. I dont know if this will work for every one, but I know that I have become a great Tea Drinker now, lol. Good luck to all my family out there!!!!!!!that means you guys, lol.    — Frank R. First of all, I'm glad you found a good support group meeting to attend. People there know where you''re coming from. I would definitely be concerned about eating and drinking at the same time though. First of all, it can cause a lot of pain. Second, it pushes your food down too fast, thereby allowing you to eat more than you should. I am aware that chamomillle or peppermint tea can help with nausea (in the case of a dumping incident, for example), but I would still be cautious about drinking and eating together. The best thing to do is to ask your nutritionist. If you don't have one, find out what your surgeon's guidelines are on this. Perhaps your type of surgery doesn't make it a problem. :)

I cannot add anything to the two posts you have already received - except to say that I wholeheartedly agree with both. First, check what type of surgery you had. Then, check what your surgeon has to say. Don't sabotage yourself in any way! Best wishes.

I don't drink anything together while eating, but I do find that tea, before I eat (at least 1 hour) makes it easier for me to eat....seems to settle the stomach.
