Question:
Has anyone had the gastric adjustable lap band surgery and was it covered ?

I was wondering if anyone has had the adjustable Lap band surgery in northern CA and if their insurance had covered the cost of surgery? Who was their surgen?    — Lilly M. (posted on September 8, 2002)

I'm in Colorado so I can't recommend my docs but I can tell you that Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal covered my surgery 100% (with a $100 deductable.) I know of a Doctor Fisher in Las Vegas, NV who does the band. He has an e-mail support group you can find through Yahoo. I hope you do pursue the band, it's been great for me!

Hi Lily, My Lap Band was covered 100% by Pacificare. It was done by Dr. Steven Patching in Sacramento. He is discussed on the Surgeon's page and is an excellent surgeon. My surgery could not have gone better and I am so happy with my band. Take a look at my profile. Hope I helped. Darleen Clark
