Question:
multiple surgery possible?

I have a huge incisional hernia, not from wls but from appendectomy many years ago. As the weight has come off- 130 lbs so far - the hernia has started to bother me. I would like to have this repaired along with a tt this fall. My question is has anyone also had bracheoplasty done at the same time? I need the hernia repair but want the arms done even more. If I dont do them now I probably wont for at least another year-- cant take time from work for more than one procedure this year. How long was the surgery? What was the recovery like? would you do it again? I already have seen both a general surgeon and plastic surgeon for first consults. Plan to see them again in september before surgery is finalized.    — dorothy S. (posted on June 23, 2003)

I have a large incisional hernia from a previous surgery, too. My surgeon left it alone during my lap rny. His plan is to fix it 1 year post op when I have a tt if it doesn't begin to bother me before then. If your hernia is bothering you it is best to get it taken care of. You could develop serious complications should something be wrong (intestinal blockage/strangulation for one). I would speak with a general surgeon about it. The can do a CAT scan to determine if the hernia is in trouble. Good luck!

I'm having my tubes tied and a brachioplasty done on Friday. The OB/GYN is doing the tube tying and the plastic surgeon is doing the brachioplasty. Should be about 2 1/2 hours of surgery. I can tell you that if your going to do this, start early and get the doctors to work with each other now. It took me 3 months to get all of this scheduled.
