Question:
can we, you create a new message board

Today I put out the idea for an Atheist message board. There was an overwhelming response in the positive. Many of us realize that even though we respect others belief, many non atheist feel the need to convert or reinforce their beliefs one way or another. I and the people I have spoken to just want a place where non religious, but moral people can meet, converse, and not be judged. Ok, maybe we can improve the planet... That is a very good thing.    — Jan S. (posted on July 29, 2005)

You know I do not care what religion any one is and i do not care about their beliefs, I think it is so sad that everytime we turn around any more some one is whining about religeion. What makes the difference, you have your beliefs and I have mine, why does this subject even need to be involved with the surgery if some one says some thing about GOD then learn to ignore it. I have no problem with you being and athesist, that is to your own believe, I just do not think we need to have a religion debate in the obesity help .com. there are several other websites out there for this. this is about the surgery and weight loss. SORRY if i stepped on toes but i do not get my self involved in the conflicts of believe. that is to your own likeing I would rather see people with real questions on here. Wendy

I disagree with the previous poster. There are boards on here for everything from knitting to sports and those subjects have little or nothing to do with weight loss surgery. Why not a place for people who share the same ideas or beliefs to post and interact? I personally would not visit but I have no problem with anyone else doing it.

Such a board sounds like a fine idea to me.

Well posting again on this because it is my right, as someone pointed out. This is a WEIGHT LOSS surgery support board but the hobbies and interests of those who are having, had or considering surgery are also represented in the Member Interests boards. Go back and check those boards and Christianity is listed along with Islam. Instead of being snide and saying to go find a group elsewhere because the idea of not believing in God offends you respect their desire for a forum for their interests. Saying that issues like atheism offend and divide well so do religious issues in general and they are still represented here. To the person who posted this originally, I would contact Obesity Help and ask them how a new group is formed. I wish everyone luck and success on whatever path they choose!

Actually, April, this isn't America. This is the Internet. I agree with the idea that if there can be subforums for movies, literature and sports, then why not this one?

Sounds like a great idea...I think all you need to do is contact the site moderator.

I cannot imagine a life without GOD! How sad for you that you walk in darkness.

And now that we have had the previous poster inject their narrow-minded view of the world as an answer to a legitmate question, here's one right back at you: I can't imagine wasting so much of my life believing in an imaginary man in the sky-- how sad that you walk in delusion!

Please, please let's get the atheist board up and running, anyone who thinks that their life will be the one God saves and not the poor, unfortunate person in the surgery suite next to them is really in trouble.....Let's Get Real!

Saying that the only point you are attempting to make was to keep the site "relevant to weight loss help & support" does not address the fact that there are plenty of venues for discussion on this site that have little or nothing to do with weight loss. If that is acceptable then it is hypocritical to say the least that there cannot be a place for non believers in God to meet. No one says you or anyone that does not agree with that point of view has to go there. I am so glad the board moderator posted and I hope they have a board for Atheists soon. This is not my fight and I am not sure why it incenses me as a believer but maybe it is the pre-surgery mania setting in. We all should agree on one thing, this is a great website!
