Question:
Help! Did anyone lose ALOT the first month...then it crawled?

I lost around 46 pounds my first month, and now three weeks later I've lost only 10 more pounds. I hate to even say ONLY because I know that is still better than without surgery. But I didn't expect it to slow so soon. Especially because I've been better than ever. I'm drinking more water, now swim/use treadmill each a half hour a day where before I did treadmill every other day, am still not eating more than 3-4 bites 3 times a day, and have tossed my cookies about 5 times the last two weeks. I should have done better! I'm wondering if anyone else had this happen, and whether it picked back up. I have 250-300 pounds I'd like to lose and I don't want it to stop so soon!    — Tracy L. You are drinking water, you are moving...... you are avoiding milk & sugar? Getting at least 60g of protein supps a day with no sugars in 'em? OK, so far so good. 46 # in a month? Took me 8 weeks to get there!!!!!!! But you know, I lost 150 anyway. I was a poky loser cuz I was slacking on my water. I had good reason, but no matter as it stalled my wt loss. Look at it this way. The first month is a slipper slope. You just SLIDE a buncha down, water wt, real wt, misc wt. Now, you stair step the rest of the way down. No more slide. You will lose by the month, either inches or lbs, but not by the day nor by the week. I helped my sanity by ONLY weighing at my monthly doc visit. Nearly killed me, but the first month showed me that daily waiting was gonna make me insane. So, each MONTH, I showed a net loss and no longer saw the wanderings day to day. You ARE losing. But it just is in tiny steps now. You can call them plateaus if you want, but they are natural logical STEPS. It's NORMAL. I got there. I've stayed here. But when I was down to 2# per month, I was sure I was gonna crack!

Ohhhh yeah! I expected to lose around 15-20 the first month, but I lost 32 pounds! Was I ever happy, then only 13 the next month and 11.5 this month. Ouch. However we can eat more and more after this first month, plus the body is probally in starvation the first month anyway. Also if you are exercising alot, then you've probally put on some muscle so it seems you have'nt lost, when actually you are doing terrific! I have'nt exercised to much partly because of our extremly hot summer and also because of knee problems. But you are doing just great. Keep it up! 46 pounds the first month. Wow! ;)

I lost a whole lot in the first three months...100lbs. And it has been slow going ever since. It took another year to lose 30lbs. and I have 30 more to go! It'll be another year before I reach goal. I'm so jealous of all those folks who lose their 150 in a year!
