Question:
what kind of liquid pain killers and muscle relaxers are good postop at home?

I've heard it is important to get liquid pain killers and muscle relaxers postop, are there any names of meds that worked well that I can ask my surgion about when I go in to see him?    — Linda C. (posted on May 31, 2002)

My Doctor had me fill prescriptions before I went in for surgery. He had me fill Liquid Loritab and suppositories for nausea, My pain was so minimal I did not even use a 1/4 of the bottle of Loritab after surgery. Now the suppositories have been a life saver for me over the last week, as the nausea has moved into my life as I try different foods. I also have liquid (cherry flavored) Tylenol

I have MS, and my doctor prescribes a drug called "Zanaflex" for my stiff legs. It is a muscle relaxer that works wonders! I wonder if your doctor could prescribe this (?). It also helps you sleep, which is a nice side effect!

My surgeon prescribes liquid Roxicet and let me tell you, it is wonderful! I actually felt so good that I overdid it around my house and forgot that I had surgery. Of course, I paid for it later, so follow ALL your docs home care rules, but I do agree that if you have pain, you should have to suffer when there is a medication that will help. I "dump" on the liquid Tylenol, very mildly, but it makes me light headed and woozy enough to have to lie down for about 15 minutes. Don't like it one bit!

Liquid Vioxx was wonderful. I was given liquid Lortab and Vioxx. I hated the Lortab it made me sleep and feel awful when I woke up. The vioxx just took away the pain, which was mostly in my back.
