I'm a medical student working in a PCP's office in Ft. Worth. A patient told me yesterday that lap band surgery costs $21,935 (don't know what all that includes). If you're in Ft. Worth, I know Dr. Adam Smith, D.O. performs the surgery. Perhaps his office could answer your questions.

Hey there my fellow Texan!! When I was considering having the Lap-Band, my ins co would not cover it. I asked my doc how much it would cost to pay out of pocket, and he told me between $14,000 and $18,000. That was Dr. Hadar Spivak in Baytown, Texas. Hope this helps!!

hey there, I had my surgery (open RNY)by Ted Scott 10-28-02 in Lubbock Tx. The surgeon fee was $5400 which included preop blood work and EGD which I paid up front. I had to pay University Medical Center $15,000 up front and recieved a bill for $2100 for the balance. I still havent gotten the preop test bill from the hospital yet but I think that will be around $1500. Great Doctor and hospital, sorry insurance!!! My Dr. doesnt do Lap. My stay was 5 days and Im doing fine.
