Question:
Having an MRI???

I am having an MRI later today and am wondering if the staples in my pouch could be dislocated because of the intense magnetic field. I haven't encountered this problem before in here or a question pertaining to it. Anyone have an idea???    — Leigh G. (posted on September 22, 2004)

I had an abdominal MRI a couple of months ago. I warned them about my staples ahead of time, and I was told that they wouldn't be affected. I still feel the same and nothing has gone wrong, so I'm assuming it's okay. Good luck. Hugs, Kristy (lap RNY - 9/18/03 - 332/182/168)

MOST are titanium, which isnt magnetic, and thus no problem. One poster not long ago found thy had steel staples, so its best off to call your surgeon and be sure.
