Question:
I'm 40 and 320 pounds. Is there any chance that I won't need a tummy tuck?

I already have an apron stomach, but I've seen profiles of people who are built just like me that look really good now and didn't have to have a TT. Just wondering what my chances are......    — Alisa Sheets (posted on June 15, 2005)

My first thought is no-there is no way. However, I am not God.

I'm of the same opinion as the first poster. Couldn't have said it better.

ROFL! I couldn't have said it better myself! It's anyone's guess how the skin will snap back...heredity, hydration, etc. Good luck! See how the dice turn up!

Depends on what you mean by "need". I was 40 and 305 pre-op and had an apron stomach. After I lost the weight, the apron was much flatter, but hung below my pubic bone. The rashes were managable, but I had lower back pain as well. Medically, with some assist from the doc and some high end support garments, I COULD have lived my life without the TT if I had to. However, there's no way I wanted to. So, will you NEED one? That may depend on what you're willing to live with.

I was 43 years and 319. YES!!!! I NEED a "full body lift"with arms, legs, thighs, stomach, butt and everything I can think of...... EVERYTHING needs to be done. But I doubt my insurance will pay for it. At least I don't have a wife to gross out with my "Shar-Pei" body. ;)

Hi, I'm 49, had surgery at 48 and started at 324. I'm now 192 and don't feel I need surgery, at least, though I have loose skin I don't feel the results would be worth the pain and rather large scars of surgery on my arms and legs. I didn't have an apron stomach before and don't have one now, but that's from where my excess weight was carried on my body. I'd say there's no way you can tell, like the other posters. The thing is, I feel soooo much better. My health is so much better, my feet don't hurt anymore, or swell. My back doesn't hurt, and I can sleep on my back or stomach or wherever I want. I don't need cholesterol meds or my CPAP machine anymore. That's why the surgery was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I look much better, too, and that's icing on the cake! It is so worth it!
