Question:
IF YOU HAD THE VBG DID YOU STICK WITH A 8 WEEK LIQUID DIET?

MY DOCTOR SAID THE REASON SO MANY DON'T SUCCEED WITH THE VBG IS BECAUSE THEY START EATING SOLID FOOD RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES AT THE DOCTORS OK. MY DOCTOR DOES THE RNY AND THE VBG BUT PREFERS THE VBG. SO IF THERE IS ANYONE THAT HAD THE VBG AND FOLLOWED A LIQUID DIET FOR 8 WEEKS AND STILL HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE STAPLE LINE NOT HOLDING OR IF YOU HAVE BEEN DOING GREAT WITH IT. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW YOUR FEEDBACK.    — michele K. (posted on October 5, 1999)

I started on "mushy" foods after 3 weeks with my VBG. which is mashed potato like food. I am now eating everything except bread and steak. It does get harder and harder when you start to eat regular food. I was going crazy on the liquid diet for 3 weeks though. I lost a lot more weight the first 3 weeks than I am now. You just have to keep on top of your exercise. The VBG is healthier, but there is a risk for stretching your stomach back to normal size if you are not very careful.
