Question:
I had surgery 4 weeks ago. The first 3 weeks I lost 22 lbs. but this last

week I didn't lose any! I'm very discouraged. I eat very little. I drink most of my water and walk 30 min.a day. It's way too soon for my weight loss to slow down. What more can I do?    — [Anonymous] (posted on October 27, 1999)

What more can you do? BE PATIENT!!! Yup, it's hard. Like you, I started hitting plateaus almost immediately. Nothing for a week....then one day you're on the scale and down 4 pounds. You'll see. Keep drinking your water, get enough protein, and exercise however you can, and the weight will continue to come off. Good luck! I too was a little discouraged in the 5th week. I didn't lose a pound but the 6th week I am down 9 pounds. Your body needs to adjust. I have lost 40 in 6 weeks. Keep exercising and drink that water. I look forward to everyday wether I lose or not. I try to weigh once a week.

What is your source of protein? Were you told to avoid sugars? Are you eating solids yet? And how much water are you getting? You said lots, but how lots?

My surgery was 5 weeks ago today! I am having the same experience. I lost steadily the first 3 weeks and then stopped. I have not eaten any differently either. I am still on pureed food. But this week (week 5) I noticed a 2 lb. loss. I have been advised by a friend who lost a lot of weight years ago to throw out the scale, watch what I eat, exercise (I still can't much due to arthritis pain) and drink my water. I know she is right, but I don't think I can get rid of the scale until I am at goal or at least close. I do not weight more than once a week though. Keep up the good work, it will come off.

Remain calm. Weight loss will continue. Eat the protein first at every meal and dont drink any high calorie liquids like heavy soups or ice cream, etc.

I am having the same problem! I am 5 weeks postop and have lost about 32 lbs., but I lost 27 of that in the first 3 weeks. I have only lost 5 lbs the last 2 weeks and am also fighting not to get discouraged. I weigh every day (can't help myself) and some days am upset to see a one or two lb gain from the day before! I am trying to be patient...I will lose this weight eventually! Good luck to you and thanks for helping me feel like I'm not the only one struggling.

also am into my 4th week and I hit a stand still. I know that the weight will come off but after going through the surgery and all you want something to show for it! I lost 24 the first 3 weeks and nothing the 4th BUMMER! But there isn't a whole lot you can do about it except drink the water and up the protien! Good Luck

Man alive, can I ever relate. At my 9 day post op appointment I had lost 11 pounds. Since then I have lost a whopping 9 more. I am 2 days shy of 6 weeks with a total weight loss of 20 pounds. I have confirmed with my doctor that I am eating everything I should be and doing everything right but I am a slow loser. It will come off, I know it will but I get very impatient at times waiting for it to show on the scales. However, my clothes are falling off of me so I know I am losing inches.
