Question:
Help! I'm 3 weeks post op and only lost 10lbs!

I had a revision from a VBG to a RNY, and although I'm eating very little, concentrating on protein and fluids, I'm not losing weight. I lost the 10lbs mostly while in the hospital. I don't get it. In the past 18 months I lost about 80lbs after the VBG in July of 98, but started gaining inspite of a "bulge" in my pouch, and constant vomitting. I don't know what to do. I am premenstrual, and hope that has something to do with it, but I really think I should be losing more weight. I walk everyday -- am off the pain meds... I'm baffled and worried. Any input woould be greatly appreciated.    — Mariana G. (posted on March 8, 2000)

Relax, I know that's hard, but, three weeks is not long give it time to adjust..also premenstrual, I always gained 15 lbs in water during this time..and I assume you gained water while in hospital with the IV's also... Now let's look at what you're eating at this point should be drinking still depending on surgeons..make sure what you're drinking or eating is low fat.. those calories can kill your weight loss. Are you walking any? Drinking lots of water? Why not email me and tell me what you eat and drink in a normal day.. Maybe I can help adjust it to lower calorie intake and less fat grams.
