Question:
Anyone else have nausea caused by physical activity?

My only real problem is the nausea. It is in direct correlation to physical activity. If climb stairs (or descend them), or I walk anywhere, I have to stop every block or so and wait for the waves of nausea to pass. Sometimes I will even cough and dry heave in the street. But I never ever throw up. I just get this overwhelming nausea. It usually passes on it's own, but if I get to the coughing/heaving stage, then I have to take a drink of water or gatorade ASAP. This is no fun, I can tell you. Walking into work in the morning is a problem because some mornings I have to stop 4 times and wait for it to pass. If I don't stop, that is when it progresses to the dry heaving. Dr. Pomp said he has never heard of anyone having nausea in relation to activity. Nausea, yes, and it eventually passes by the time the 6 month mark is up, but never in relation to activity. Naturally I have to be special. Lol! But Niccole the nutritionist said maybe it is a trauma to the Vagus nerve, the main nerve in the abdomin. I don't know, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I hope it will gradually dissipate. Does anyone else have this? --Janice Drew ([email protected])    — Janice D. (posted on March 30, 2001)

I'm a little over 4 months post-op and sometimes still have a problem with becoming nauseated after strenuous activity. It seems to be worse if I haven't eaten or had enough water before I exercise (or even if I'm doing a bunch of cleaning). I think the main thing is to make sure you're getting all of your daily nutrients and drinking enough fluids. Eventhough we're allowed to drink diet pop, I tend to stay away from it prior or following exercise because it tends to make me feel sick (maybe it's the carbonation). I'm hoping this will pass as time goes on and I wish you the best with your situation also. Take Care and God Bless:)
