What are the health risks with this type of surgery?

There are different health risks with each of the different wls surgeries. The one thing they all have in common is the risk that ALL types of surgery have. Whenever you have a major surgery you are at risk for complications related to it and even death. A person needs to research the surgery they are considering and compare it to the life and outcome of what they are facing without the surgery and make a choice from there. As far as understanding the differences between the wls surgeries I recommend the library here on site and web pages that members have put up to help inform you.
