Question:
When will I have ENERGY???

I am a little over 2 months post-op and have lost almost 50 pounds. You'd think by now I would have lots of energy and would be ready to go out and conquer the world. The opposite seems to be happening. I'm not exercising and not sleeping well at night...just seem to be tired all the time. I really WANT to exercise, I just can't get my body going. There was a day when I was pretty athletic. I would love to have that youthful energy back. Any advise? — Robby E. (posted on May 23, 2002)

Robby, I totally sympathize with you! It was months until I felt better. I was so exhausted, depressed, thirsty, hungry; things always seemed to be going wrong! I couldn't drive my car until I was 8 weeks post-op! It was horrible! But, slowly, things started to get better; as they will for you too!
I did want to tell you that I was in no shape to do any excercise. I just wanted to sit around all day and nap, watch TV or give myself a private pitty party. But, one night I decided to walk down my street. It was literally a 3-4 minute walk. I felt really good and proud of myself after that. Then the next night I walked it twice. Then the night after that, I walked it three times. I was really happy that I was doing this, so I felt better emotionally. It gave me such pride, that I did it every night! PLUS, the physical activity actually gave me even more energy...it didn't take it out of me like one would think!
You'll be fine, things do get better, it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".
Congratulations on the weight loss! 50 lbs is awesome!

Where are you with your water? And vites & protein supps? All nice and regular? How much sugar are you getting in? Sugar can make you feel like a wet rag, even if you're not getting much of it. Just a little now & then is like putting an anchor on you.

I'm a year and two weeks post op and still have absolutely no energy. I feel like I've been run over. I've had blood tests and no one knows why. I even have B-12 shots twice a month. I'm still the walking dead. I too would like to know what is going on.

I was really tired and had NO energy for the first couple of months. I FORCED myself to start walking daily and it did help get my energy levels up. I'm also sleeping through the night with no problems. I think exercise is the key.
