Question:
What are complex carbohydrates?
But what ARE complex carbohydrates? Give me some examples. I need them to keep my blood sugar level up, as it has been dropping lately. Thanks. — blank first name B. (posted on May 1, 2002)

Complex carbohydrates are fruits and vegetables and whole grains, foods
with high fiber content.

Complex carbohydrates are found in whole grain, vegetables, beans etc, as
opposed to simple carbohydrates which are refined sugar & refined
flour.
Complex carbohydrates digest much slower and release glucose (blood sugar)
over a long period of time.
Sugars are digested very fast and release glucose (blood sugar) immediately
into your blood stream. But this can also cause your insulin to dramatically
rise causing your blood sugar level to fall quickly again.
