Question:
WHAT IS HAPPENING........depression?

I have been on Wellbutrin SR for over a year with periods when i have gone off. I have been feeling similiar to a depression relapse foe about a month. It is getting worse. I am sleeping until 11-1o'clock which is not good because my kids get up and I am powerless to wake up...then i am "drugged" feeling most all the day and very bit*hy, very angry all day. I have no motivation to do anything like laundry or cleaning but I am taking my meds faithfully. Also, I am beginning to pass out (sleep) after eating to much sugar and have had mysterious stomach pain attacks for more than a year now. Endoscopy showed nada.I am off my insurance for the next two months. ANY ADVICE SUGGESTIONS?    — nicole P. (posted on August 8, 2002)

If I am not mistaken, Wellbutrin SR is a timed released medication. Timed released medications do not work well for Bypass patients. Check with your Dr. to see if you can get Wellbutirn in the regular (not timed-released) formuala.

Now that I see you are pre-op (should have looked first) you can disregard the previous post. However, being a depression suffer myself, I recognize all of the symptoms. Call your Dr. You may need a medication adjustment/addition. Good luck.

are you sure that you don't have a thyroid issue going on here.... it's quite possible... maybe you should speak to your PCP about that in more detail.... You sound a lot like I did prior to surgery. The thyroid controls more than just your weight. I'm on synthyroid now and feel MUCH better. Back to NORMAL for the first time in years after getting my dosage to the correct level.

Welbutrin SR won't work for me post op. I had to switch to Welbutriin. Now it works fine.

My husband has some of the same problems and his is partly due to diabetes. He also has depression but cannot take Wellbutrin because it causes fits of rage for him. (I MADE the dr switch it after he shattered a coffee cup against the wall.) He now takes Celexa and it works fine. The SR time release may not be working for you but the regular version may work fine. Please get checked out by your dr because your reaction to sugar is very troubling. If your blood sugar gets too far off you could go into a coma. Good luck and let us know, OK?
