Question:
I am 3 months Post op and only lost 38 pounds, Why?

Okay, I am 3 monts post op. I started at 298 and now 260. My surgery date was 1/10/03. I just happen to get pregnant right after surgery :0( At this time I am no longer pregnant. I had lost it over a week. Could this be the reason for not loosing weight? Is this normal? While i was pregnant, I was lazy. I had no energy and could not concentrate. I stop exercising after 1 month post op and now i am back in the game, i have energy. My eating habbits have increased. I can eat anything. Fried foods, bread, and pretty much anything. I wish i had difficultities, but i dont. Can someone tell me if you are in this too, or is it just me? --Failure    — jguile (posted on April 17, 2003)

I too am three months out and have lost 37 pounds. Some of us just lose at a slower rate. Having been pregnant and losing your baby could have your hormones unbalanced. Give it a little time. Sorry about your loss. Myra

Jamie, I am sorry, hon, about the loss of the baby. You certainly have been thru alot in the past three months. As for your weight loss, there is nothing wrong or off-course about 38 pounds in three months. Everyone loses at different rates. However, if you want the loss to continue, there are several things you can do from this point forward to continue the success. Just because you CAN eat fried foods, bread and pretty much anything, does NOT mean you should. You have to maximize your 18 month window of opportunity with weight loss and to do so, try to stay away from or minimize the bad foods and concentrate on healthier foods, such as proteins, good carbs (the non-white ones), fruits and veggies and tons of water. And now that you have energy back, EXERCSISE regularly. Trust me, a good balanced diet (eat frequently), and exercise and water and you will continue to see that scale go down. You are not a failure and banish that word from your vocabulary.
