Question:
Anyone ever had to have kicked start their eating program after surgery
I am 4 months status post open RNY and find myself falling back into old habits,i.e., graze eating in particular. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a way to kick start your eating plan again, such as maybe go back to immediate postop eating plan with all liquids or just protein shakes again or something like that. I have lost 79 lb so far, but I DO NOT want to go back to how I used to be. HELP PLEASE!!! — MedTrans (posted on April 29, 2003)

Hi Teresa, I'm 6.5 months out. I was extremely strick for the first few
months. Only ate 100% most of the time. I have been very sucessful with
my loss. Once I started introducing the carbs back in my diet the grazing
started. I think for the rest of my life I'm just going to have to be very
careful in picking the carbs that I eat so that I don't start back with my
old habits. Try staying away from the carbs and see how you do. Best of
luck!

You might want to pop over to the Graduate list. That's often an issue with
long termers. Several people just went on a shorty protein fast, all
supporting one another & it appears to have been very successful in
breaking the Carb Monster's hold & getting them back on track.
