Question:
Only nice people need reply....

I asked a similar question yesterday & got a smart remark. Don't we deal with enough crap in our daily lives with out putting up with it here too?!?! Anyway, what I would like to know is after you get down to 200lbs- how quickly does the weight come off? Say you are 200 & your goal is 125-135.. about how long do you think it would take to reach it.. assuming you are eating the perfect diet & exercising at least an hour a day. I would really appreciate your answers. Thanks! :)    — sgeisendorff (posted on June 7, 2001)

Stephanie, I'm wondering that as well. I can tell you this, since I hit 200 lbs., I've lost as little as 3 lbs. in a month (after donating blood, I actually gained 8 lbs. OVERNIGHT, so it took me a month to get back to where I was, and then I took a few pounds off for insurance!), and as much as 12 lbs. (last month because of gardening). I have 24 lbs. to go until goal, so if I maintain 10 lbs. a month (my average), I will be there at 13 months post-op. Good luck to you!

How fast did you lose on your other diets? I started at about 200 pounds and 11 months later, I am not quite to goal yet...but then, I have never lost very fast no matter how much exercise, water, etc., I did. The good news is, that after 11 months, I am still losing at a pretty steady pace. I bought an entire new size 8 wardrobe because I couldn't imagine I might actually get smaller than that... and now they are starting to get a little roomy! I might have to start investing in size 6 (aaah....poor me...right?)

I am wondering that too - good question. Sorry you got a "smark remark" yesterday, I guess surgery can't fix EVERYTHING!!! haha I am wondering why your Doc would make you lose weight before your surgery? Many people have the surgery that weigh double or triple what you weigh. I would be scared that he would turn and say "See, you CAN do it on your own!" (Well, yes I can, but it comes right back.) A friend of mine started out at 245, and has lost 35 and stopped for 10 days, but she is losing again. I honestly think it is a personal thing, based on metabolisim, past eating habits, types of surgery and new diets. I hope you get to find out REALLY soon!

Stephanie...Hey..i weighed in at surgery at 253..258 after leaving the hospital (5lb gain in the hospital)..Anyway, I'm now 8 months post op and I'm down to 166lbs. My goal is 140. So i only have 26 more lbs to go. So, I will reach my goal before my anniversary. It depends on YOU and YOUR BODY. Whatever you do, if you can, try not to compare your weight loss to someone eles's. Just go with the flow. I'm sure honey, you will be at goal when you want to be. You're not that big. (isn't that great!!) To see my before adn after's go to www.picturetrail.com/classygem Hope all goes well with you. God's love be upon you.

I started off at about 250 and it all came off quickly till I got down to near goal, around 15 lbs to lose and then it gets real slow, nothing one month, a couple the next, but when you are only 10 pounds overweight you feel great anyway and I don't sit and worry if any more weight will come off. If it does it does, if it doesn't it doesn't. I feel terrific anyway. It only took about 10 months to get that close to my goal. Good luck to you!
