Question:
Does tylenol work for you?

I had open RNY and hiatal hernia repair 3 weeks ago and I'm still using Vicadyn, for lack of anything else that works. I've been having headaches and backaches every day and tylenol doesn't do anything for the pain. I'll be talking to my doctor tomorrow. Until then, has anyone had this problem with tylenol and what have you done instead? Thanks!!    — Christine L. (posted on April 28, 2002)

I never felt that Tylenol did much for me before my rny, but afterwards, when I found I should not taks nsaids, I have found that Tylenol does pretty good for me. Maybe it works better now because my insides are so different or maybe just because I no longer take those others...I don't know, but, yes, Tylenol does work for me now.

Hi...I agree with Kathy, it didn't work at all for me before surgery (I was an ALEVE kinda gal - the only thing that worked on my menstrual cramps and migraines), but now, it does seem to work, and pretty well, which surprised me.

Hi Christine. I saw your question and just had to post! Tylenol has NEVER worked for me. I am now 3.5 months post op and it STILL doesn't work for me. I was an Excedrin addict prior to surgery (and I have the ulcers to show for it). I took it CONSTANTLY for headaches and various aches and pains associated with my obesity. Since surgery, I have tried Tylenol several times and it has done little to nothing to alleviate my pain (usually headaches). I have had some success with Junior chewable Motrin, but my surgeon has told me to limit it to once every other week or so. I try my best not to use it, I usually go for the Tylenol first, and if that doesn't work, take my Motrin. Hopefully your doctor will have some other options for you. Please share them if he does. I would love to hear! Good luck!

When I was sent home after my laproscopic gastric bypass surgery I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with Codeine (liquid form). After taking two teaspoons that sucker sent me into "la la land". That stuff is good!!!!!!!!
