Question:
Has anyone had an ulcer in their unused stomach?

I've been suffering from back and lower abdominal pain for many weeks now. Is it possible to have an ulcer in the unused portion of the stomach? I had open RNY on 4/5/02 and my stomach was transected.    — Christine L. (posted on June 16, 2002)

I have a friend who had WLS and shortly afterwards developed a bleeding ulser in his unused portion of his stomach. If you suspect this , see your doctor ASAP! There is no way to get meds to the lower part of stomach, he had to have his removed. He is fine now. Call your doctor. Especially if there is blood in your stool.

Hello: I had some slight problems with my unused stomach...Dr. said that it still creates some stomach acids..I had no idea...I thought it was just dead tissue hanging around in there....I was surprised....
