Question:
Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Zafar Parvez or at the Sanger hospital?

I am thinking of having the surgery and I went to see this doctor. He is new and only has done the operation about 60 times. Should I consider a more experienced doctor? I received an e-mail solicitation from this doctor, who probably got my address from this site. I know nothing about him, but do know that there are several well-experienced bariatric surgeons in Fresno (Betcher and associates, Higa/Boone and associates, Felix, Kinter, Gladen) who do both lap and open procedures. I'd check them out before choosing a surgeon who's just starting out. I had open RNY (distal) from Paul Frye, MD (an associate of Richard Betcher) on 10/12/00 and couldn't be more satisfied. No complications, losing weight and gaining muscle mass, feeling great!

Hi, my name is Alice Meister and my e-mail is [email protected] I was the first patient that Dr. Zafar Parvez performed the surgery on at the Sanger Hospital. I am now 3 Months and 13 days Post-op. Before my surgery I asked a lot of ?'s and even had my sister to my appointsments so she could ask ?'s I would forget. Dr. Parvez answered all my ?'s and more. After the surgery he was there for me also. When ever I had a question all I had to do was pick up the phone and call. I am doing very will and feel great. While at the hospital I felt like a queen they were great (nurse's, Doc, everyone.) There were a lot of things I hear that I did not have to go thru that others did while I was in the Hospital that was a nice surprize since I to were scared to have the surgery done. I knew this was the only way... If you would like to know more please email me. A quick note, just week my sister made me take a picture in the same bathing suit that I took one in just a couple days before surgery and boy can you tell a difference I am trying to get in on for everyone to see. I weighed in at 291 and now weigh 228. It has been three months and 13 days since my surgery.

HELLO I HAD SURGERY WITH DR. PARVEZ AT SANGER GENERAL HOSPITAL. MY SURGERY DATE WAS 11/13/00. DID YOU KNOW THAT DR. PARVEZ IS A VERY EXPERIENCED VASCULAR AND THORACIC SURGEON AS WELL? HE MAY BE NEW TO THIS HOSPITAL BUT HE HAS DONE THIS TYPE OF SURGERY BEFORE. I AM A NURSE AND I INVESTIGATED THIS VERY CLOSELY BEFORE HAVING IT DOEN. I INTERVIEWED 4 DOCTORS IN THE FRESNO AREA BEFORE CHOOSING DR. PARVEZ. I HAVE BEEN SO HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS. I AM 3 WEEKS POST OP I HAVE LOST 31 LBS! I HAVE A LITTLE 3 INCH INCISION -WHICH IS GREAT FOR AN OPEN RNY! I LOVE REYNA-HIS OFFICE MANAGER, SHE IS SO FRIENDLY AND WILLING TO HELP YOU. I WOULD CHOOSE THIS DR. AGAIN ANYDAY! THE HOSPITAL IS SMALL BUT THE CARE YOU GET IS SO ATTENTIVE, BEING A NURSE I EXPECTED THE WORSE FROM A SMALL HOSPITAL, I WAS SURPRISED. IF I HAD THE CHANCE TO HAVE DR. I have had my surgery date changed twice was told that the hospital had no anesthesiologist, and that my surgery was postponed. I was told that it could be a month or longer. I'm waiting fo a call from the hospital to find out if this is all true. Either way I have decided that this is not the hospital or the program that I want to go with.
