Question:
I need to lose 200 pounds. I am at 350 pds. now. What are the chances

of me losing the 200? I know everyone's body is different, is there anyone around that has lost 200 pounds?    — Judy W. (posted on May 9, 2002)

I had open RNY November 29, 2001. I weighed 346 pounds the morning of the surgery. Now, 5 months and one week later I weigh 246. That's 100 pounds gone in 5 months. Needless to say, I am thrilled. I also need to lose another 100 - maybe I will lose all of it and maybe I won't. But right now, anything under 200 looks like a real bonus to me. If I stop shy of my "ideal" weight, so be it. I know that I will be much healthier for every additional pound I shed.

Go to Weight Loss Planner on the Gallery. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/postopplanner.phtml It should answer your questions.

I'm 7.5 months post-op and my starting weight was 361. I'm 199 now. That's a loss of 162 lbs. It's totally possible.

Hi, Judy - I started @ 342 - surgery date was 7/30/01 (open RNY). At 9mos post op (4/30/02) I weighed in @ 180 or a loss of 162lbs. I plan to loose another 20 - 25lbs depending on how I look. My ideal per the charts is 141 - I don't think that I will go that low, but I will have to evaluate it as I go. Good Luck.

What are your chances? Wellllll, "perhaps" you can. I had hoped to lose 190 and it does'nt look as if I will do it now. My loss slowed down to a crawl at 6 months. But I was a year post op yesterday and I'm down 137 overall. At this point I would be very happy if I can at least keep off what I've lost. They say the average loss is 65-70% of our excess weight??? If so I'm at 72 percent. Perhaps those of us who are super overweight need to see a dietitian. I started seeing one a month ago and I dropped 6 pounds this month! Better than the 2 pounds a month I was doing for awhile. None of us can know how much we will lose. We can only do the best we can. If 70 percent is all we can lose, then we are certainly much better off. ;) I wish you the best! :)

I'm 13.5 months post-op and have lost 177 lbs. thusfar. Still have 40 to go, but I'm hopeful I will make it. What are your chances of losing 200 lbs.? Good, as long as you remember that it takes hard work on your part. Exercise, eat right and don't graze! Those I think are the secrets to success.

Hi: I started out at 346...am down to 163. So, I only have 17 more pounds to go to 200 down mark!! I am 15 months out. I plan to have plastic surgery and I am SURE that I have at least 10 -15 pounds that will come off. So, YES it is possible!! I feel the real question for me anyway is keeping it off!! Good luck!

Hiya Judy, I started out a 341, and have lost 156 lbs in 9 months with 35 more to go. I haven't stopped losing weight, been on a plateau here and there, but I'm most certain I will reach my goal. 200 lbs is very very possible to lose, but it's up to you, eating right, exercise, and water. I wish you the best!!
