Question:
Does anyone know of a support group in the Florence, AL area?
I had my surgery in Birmingham, AL and they have a wonderful support group, but the drive is 2 1/2 hours. I was wondering if anyone knew of a closer support group. Thanks! 2 weeks post-op and down 17lbs! — Alicia K. (posted on February 11, 2003)

I go to a support group in Madison, AL. It's not that close to you, but
closer than Birmingham. Email me at [email protected] and I'll be

Hi Alicia. I live in Tuscumbia. [email protected] has just started a
support group that meets in Sheffield. I was sick and didn't get to attend
the first meeting, but will go to them after I have surgery next week. Her

Hello Alicia,
I live in Decatur and had my surgery in Huntsville, My doctor is Dr
Frederick Cason, he has started a support group that will be meeting the
last Tuesday of every month starting on Feb 25th at the Alvin Blackwell
Towers across from the Huntsville Hospital, 201 Sivley Road and 6:30pm in
Board Room 1-2.. I'm going to be there and hope you will consider joining

I found a support group by going to local help, posted at top page, this
site. That took me to a map which you chose your state that give local
events/groups. I found one in Madison, Al. I also think there is one in
Athens, Decatur, Prattville, and Birmingham. I hope that helps.
