The times when I feel nauseated are when I eat something that is too fattening, or if I eat too quickly. I never realized that I eat so quickly. I am learning to slooowww down and ejoy what I am eating. Sarah.. RNY 2/3/03 -54 lbs

i have experianced nausea after over eating and had to throw up i try not to make a habit of it but it has happened. nausea right after surgery is also normal sometimes is caused by having mucus in your pouch. i felt better after my one week check up and the doctor orderd zantac. best luck to you, kimberly open distal bypass 11/12/02 -80lbs

For me, no. I never "hurled" after surgery, but I do recall two episodes of nausea when I thought I might. One was brought on by a sip of Cystal Lite lemonade, about two weeks post-op, which I've been able to drink before and since with no problems. The other happened at about three weeks out, when I ate a baby brussel sprout (well chewed). That time, I waited ten minutes, tried another one, had no problems. Just part of the healing process, maybe?

No necessarily. I could barely eat at all BECAUSE of the nausea I had 24/7 for the first 3 months post-op. I also had a slow-emptying pouch, so food hung around in there for hours, making me feel nauseous. Things are much better now at 11 months post-op. Even though I had a lot of nausea early on, I never vomitted, and still haven't to this day. Hugs, Joy

I am 11mos post-op. I can remember for the first few months there would be times when everything including water would make me throw up or just nausious. There seemed to be no ryme or reasoning behind these episodes. I was a BIG water drinker pre-op but I think I was 4 mos. post-op before I could have a glass of water comfortably. I had to drink iced tea and crystal light to avoid nausea. Tea really soothed my tummy. It does pass. Hang in there!
