Question:
I'm 5 weeks post op, feeling good but on a stinking plateau

Anyone else experience a two week plateau this early post-op? It makes me feel I will never lose the next 100 pounds, and I'm getting discouraged. Period due soon, don't know if that has anything to do with it. I am eating mostly protien. The only carbs I get is from my once a day serving of refried beans. Grrrr.......HELP!    — Happy I. I'll be 10 weeks post op this Friday, and I've hit 2 plateaus already. The first one was about 4 weeks post op, and the second one just broke this past Friday, and I've lost 5 lbs. since then (and I'm on my period too)!! Both lasted about a week & a half. From what I've heard, it's quite common to plateau even this early out. All I can say is hang in there, it will break!! :o)

I am the queen of plateaus. :~) They happen, just keep on going! Don't give up. Your body has to have adjustment periods... so just keep on trucking, my friend! :~) Read my profile for help or email me, okay! :~) I am 18 months out and have lost 210 lbs!

I am 5 weeks out too. I've been on a plateau for two weeks and it's driving me crazy! I still have difficulty getting in my protein and water in so I know that's part of my problem but from all I've read and been told at my support group it is NORMAL and this too shall pass. (But not quick enough for us!) lol Hang in there, you're not hanging alone!

I too am 5 weeks and at a plateau. My scale has not moved in a week. I was becoming discouraged-but the surgeon told me that it is normal. It will pass and I will be on the losing end again soon. Keep your faith in this surgery-It works!

I was so happy to see your posting. I'm 6 weeks post-op and I've only weighed twice since surgery. At the 3 week point, I had lost 24 lbs., even though it felt like I'd lost only about 10 lbs. Since that time, it seems like the weight has really come off but when I weighed, I had lost only 8 lbs. in 3 weeks! I kind of freaked out momentarily and thought that I must be doing something wrong. I eat very little and so I've been trying to eat more and I began my exercise routine again (stopped when I went back to work because I've been so exhausted). Hopefully that will help. I'm trying not to get on the scale so often so that I won't be controlled by those darn numbers! Good luck to all of you!

Our experiences are almost the same. I lost 30 pounds the first three weeks and then nothing for the last three weeks. I have been depressed. My period started three days ago after not having one for 8 weeks ( the surgery screwed up my normal routine.) My surgeon says this is all perfectly normal and not to worry. The good news... the scale went down three pounds today.
